Our UP - Unique Proposition

1. Slow Production

Our bigger furniture pieces are hand-made to order, reducing overconsumption of materials and resources.

Using traditional craftsmanship methods by hand allows us more control of production which reduces the resources used in mass-produced manufacturing such as water, electricity and energy needed.

We produce in small batches, each piece artisan-made from our studio in South-East London.

2. Hand-painted Prints

Our bespoke hand-painted prints are all individually created with no use of digitally designed prints which has become ‘the norm’ within the industry.

In a world dominated by digital prints and images, we have gone back to basics with our minds and our hands. Reducing the reliance on digital and instead promoting creative freedom, paint brush and spray paint to fabric to express our authentic self and create some art the traditional way.

3. Conscious Colour

We are completely obsessed with the power of colour and how it can positively contribute to your home environment.

We are known for our use of colour in our upholstery pieces and clients come to us for bespoke commissions because of this.

I am so happy the interiors landscape has changed over recent years and more people are embracing the use of colour in their home.

Even if it is a subtle pop of neon colour or a full-on print, we are here for it. Statement pieces create personality in the home and have powerful effects on our mood and well-being.

4. Upcycled Repurposed Repaired Products

This forms the basis of our product range, with a few exceptions of the made-to-order upholstered furniture (all made from eco-friendly materials).

Upcycling existing product is so much fun, creatively thinking of new ways to reinvent items. We don’t need more newness, we need more repurposed products made new! But sadly, there are approx 22 million pieces of furniture discarded in the UK annually*, with the majority ending up in landfill.

5. Natural materials in the Home

Linen and Cotton

Every material has been carefully chosen to be the most eco-friendly option possible. We work with a linen and cotton blend for our upholstery as it is naturally biodegradable, meaning these fabrics break down naturally over time unlike synthetic fabrics that persist in landfills for decades.

They are plant-based and renewable reducing reliance on petroleum based textiles.

It is low impact processing, requiring fewer pesticides, fertilisers and less water making it especially eco-friendly.

Non-toxic Materials

Non-toxic, chemical-free padding and fillers, non-toxic water-based fabric paints which contain no VOCs and are child-friendly.

We do not use harmful toxic chemicals in fire-retardent treated materials. Linen and cotton are natural fibres meaning they only need a schudule 3 interliner for upholkstery as oppsoed to toxic, chemical fire-retardent treated chemcials. The breathable, hypoallergenic materials also resist dust mites and do not off-gas VOCs contributing to healthier indoor environments.

Recycled Materials

We use reclaimed wood where possible as well as FSC wood, recycled paper on our prints as well as repurposing off-cut materials to make our edited UP. home & gift range.

All packaaging is recycable and our branding uses minimal digital energy as it is hand-created using a wooden block stamp in keeping with our brand ethos.

We aim to use majority of materials and components that are natural,  eco-friendly & we do not use plastic zips on cushions for this reason.
